MULTI-LEVEL ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM - EKCOI

LEVEL THREE

By the completion of level three, students will be able to:

  • Knowledge of music notation appropriate to their ability

  • A solid comprehension of the rudiments of music

  • To sight-read up to 8-bars hands separately

  • Play C , D, E, G, A  major and minor scales hands together

  • Construct primary triads in I - IV - V in C, D, E, F, G, A, major and minor keys

  • Contrary motion scales C, D, E, G, A major and minor keys

  • Compose or improvise short melodies

  • Create variation accompaniments in LH  in 4/4 & 3/4

  • Arpeggios in C, G, major and A minor, hands separately

  • Compose at least a 16-bar work with a harmonic progression

  • Sing the major, and harmonic minor scale in solfege and other short melodies

  • Accompany group of singers; example Christmas Carols

  • Interval recognition P1, M2, M3, P4, P5, M6, M7, P8, m2, m3, m6, m7, tritone

  • Major and minor chord recognition in root and first-inversions

  • Play short melodies by ear

  • Participate in a concert, competition or external music examination

  • Record a CD
